Arquivo Nacional — Brazil UAP records
Brazil holds one of the world's most open official UFO records. Between 2008 and 2025 the Força Aérea Brasileira transferred thousands of investigation files to the Arquivo Nacional, spanning seven decades of military and civil reports. The cases here are its headliners: Operação Prato (1977–78), the Air Force's field investigation into the light-beam encounters at Colares; the 1986 'Official UFO Night', when fighters were scrambled after radar contacts and the Air Minister confirmed the objects were unexplained; the 1958 Brazilian Navy photographs at Trindade Island; and the contested 1996 Varginha Army inquiry.
These are scanned Portuguese-language case files — CENDOC envelopes, naval records (RIC), and Army inquiries (IPM) — held by Brazil's National Archive. Several of the famous cases (Trindade, Barra da Tijuca, Varginha) rest on photographs or testimony whose authenticity is historically disputed; the documents here are the genuine government files, not an endorsement of any case's conclusion.
