Roswell

The Roswell incident — the July 1947 retrieval of debris near Roswell Army Air Field, New Mexico — is the foundational US UFO story. The official record breaks into two tranches: the contemporaneous 1947 newspaper coverage and military press releases, and the much later 1990s USAF Roswell Reports which proposed the Project MOGUL balloon train as the source of the recovered material.

Open UAP carries primary sources from both tranches. The 1947 newspaper page is verbatim. The Hottel memo is the FBI's contemporaneous administrative reference to the incident (not an analysis). The Roswell Reports cover composite, body-bag photograph, and Project MOGUL Balloon Train document are the USAF's later official explanation.
