National Security Agency UAP records

National Security Agency UFO records here are the declassified set released in stages between 1980 and 1997 following Citizens Against UFO Secrecy v. NSA. The corpus is overwhelmingly image-PDF carbon paper, heavily redacted under FOIA exemptions (b)(1) and (b)(3), and ranges across COMINT reports, State Department airgrams forwarded through NSA channels, retained press clippings, and a small number of substantive internal staff papers.

Two records anchor the set: the 1968 internal staff paper “UFO Hypothesis and Survival Questions” — NSA's most cited candid speculative document on the subject — and the Eugene F. Yeates affidavits filed in CAUS v. NSA, which together frame the legal scaffolding around the entire release. The remaining files are short, heavily redacted, and useful primarily as corpus markers for NSA's involvement in UFO-relevant signals intelligence.
